Summary: This website does not collect, store or process any personal data you enter into the calculator. All calculations happen entirely in your browser. We use Google AdSense, which may set cookies for advertising purposes — you can control this via the cookie banner.

1. Who we are

This website is operated by an individual publisher based in Italy. It is an independent educational tool and is not affiliated with any government body, environmental organisation, or certification authority. For contact details, please see our Contact page.

2. What data we collect — and what we do not

Calculator data: The information you enter into the carbon footprint calculator (country, energy use, transport habits, diet, shopping) is processed entirely within your browser using JavaScript. None of this data is transmitted to our servers, stored in any database, or shared with any third party. We have no technical capability to access it.

Contact form data: If you submit a message via our contact form, your name, email address, and message are processed by Formspree (formspree.io), a third-party form service. Formspree's privacy policy applies: formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy. We retain your message solely to respond to your enquiry and do not use it for marketing purposes.

Cookies and advertising: We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google AdSense may set cookies on your device to serve personalised or contextual ads. See Section 4 below for full details.

Analytics: We do not currently use any analytics service (e.g. Google Analytics). If this changes, this policy will be updated accordingly.

3. Legal basis for processing (GDPR Article 6)

Where personal data is processed, the legal basis is:

You may withdraw consent for cookies at any time by clearing your browser cookies or adjusting your browser settings.

4. Google AdSense and third-party cookies

This website participates in Google AdSense, operated by Google LLC (or Google Ireland Limited for EEA users). Google AdSense may:

If you do not consent to advertising cookies via our cookie banner, Google will serve non-personalised (contextual) ads only.

For full details of how Google processes data: policies.google.com/privacy. To opt out of personalised advertising: adssettings.google.com.

5. Data transfers outside the EU/EEA

Google LLC is based in the United States. Where data is transferred to the US, Google relies on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission as the transfer mechanism under GDPR Chapter V. For details: Google's data processing terms.

6. Your rights under GDPR

As a data subject in the EU/EEA, you have the following rights:

To exercise any of these rights, contact us via the contact page. We will respond within 30 days as required by GDPR Article 12.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. In Italy: Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.

7. Data retention

Contact form enquiries are retained only for as long as necessary to respond to your message, and deleted thereafter. We do not operate mailing lists or retain contact data for marketing purposes.

8. Children's privacy

This website is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted data via our contact form, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
